Door to HealthCare Helps More Than 1,000 Allegany County Residents Get Affordable, Quality Health Coverage
Residents have one month left to enroll in plans through Maryland Health Connection
Columbia, MD – The Door to HealthCare, a program of Healthy Howard, Inc., and its local partner the Allegany County Health Department, have successfully helped 1,254 Allegany County residents get enrolled in affordable, quality health coverage in Qualified Health Plans and expanded Medical Assistance (Medicaid) through the state’s health insurance marketplace, Maryland Health Connection.
The 1,254 residents of Allegany County are among the nearly 25,000 that the Door to HealthCare has helped to enroll throughout the six counties of the Western Region (Allegany, Carroll, Frederick, Garrett, Howard and Washington) since Open Enrollment began Nov. 15, 2014. The Door and its local partners have provided direct assistance to approximately 20% of Western Marylanders who enrolled through in-person assistance or who contacted its call center.
Marylanders and Allegany County residents must enroll by Jan. 18 for coverage with financial assistance that starts Feb. 1. Open enrollment continues until Feb. 15, 2015.
To help all Allegany County residents seeking assistance, the Door and its partners are providing assistance at four regular locations throughout the county including the Allegany County HRDC, Allegany Health Right, Allegany Health Department and the Frostburg Library. Additionally, informational and enrollment events are scheduled throughout the county before the Feb. 15 deadline.
